Example for Calculating the Quantity of Materials In 1 CUM of Concrete.

Consider concrete with mix (M15) of proportion 1:2:4 = 7 where, 1 is part of cement, 2 is part of fine aggregates and 4 is part of coarse aggregates of 20mm Size. 7 is the Sum of ratio.

We assume the bulk density of Cement as 1440 Kg/m3, Sand = 1450 Kg/m3 and Coarse Aggregates as 1500 Kg/m3.

Dry Volume of Materials in 1 Cum of Concrete = 1 x 1.54 = 1.54

Formula for Calculation

Quantity of Materials in Kgs = Dry Volume of Materials X (Portion of materials in Ratio / Sum of Ratios ) X Density of Materials

1, Quantity of Cement in 1 CUM Concrete is = 1.54x 1/7 x 1440 = 316.80 Kgs

2, Quantity of Sand in 1 CUM Concrete is = 1.54 x 2/7 x 1450 = 638.00 Kgs

3, Quantity of Aggregates in 1 CUM Concrete is = 1.54 x 4/7 x 1500 = 1320.00 Kgs
